Banana leaf dinner

Earlier, banana leaves were commonly used to eat food instead of plates. There are lot of benifits for this. After putting leaf, salt, sour and chilly is served first. These three awakens the digestive acids to digest the food that you are going to eat further.after that ginger curry and lemon pickle is served. This also helps in digestion. then other curries, after hot rice is served. When hot rice is put on banana leaf it gets sweltered. The rice absorbs the chlorophyll in that leaf. Not only that, a flavor is produced at that time,it awakens the six tastes of that person.
Mind and food was the base for everything for our former generation. They lived according to that. But now the fashion came in and now we are eating in plastic banana leaf.
The antioxidants (polyphenols) in banana leaf is reported to help fight cancer. BAnana leaves are more eco friendly, hygenic, economic and waterproof. So don't miss a chance to eat in banana leaf.

Original science

You know that our meteorologists are not able to predict rainy or sunny day exactly even though they have lot of instruments. Our ancient astrologists predicted the sun rise, sunset, solar eclipse, lunar eclipse and other important dates and times with just manual observation.

Panchangam is a Hindu calendar and almanac, which follows traditional units of Indian timekeeping, and presents important dates and their calculations in a tabulated form. The actual casting of a Panchangam involves elaborate mathematical work involving high level of spherical geometry and sound understanding of astronomical phenomena, such as sidereal movements of heavenly bodies. However, in practice the tabulation is done on the basis of short-cut formulations as propounded by ancient Vedic sages and scholars.A typical Panchangam may state tabulations of positions of Sun, Moon, and other planets for every day of the year on a fixed place (longitude, latitude) and time of day (in 24-hour format IST). The users calculate the remaining data using the their relative difference from this fixed place and time.

There are several panchangas that contain information for more than one year. There is one Vishvavijaya Panchangam that is for 100 years.

Science never lies with gadgets and machines. It lies with complete observation. All the other things are just applications of science.

Vibhuti- not a mere accessory

Vibhuti is traditionlly prepared either from ash from cowdung, or from rice husks. In an age-old practice is made out of dried cow dung cakes in a Vaideeka mode during the annual Maha Sivarathri festival.
Vibhuti is believed to have medicinal value and is used in many ayurvedic medicines. It absorbs excess moisture from the body and prevents colds and headaches. When worn on the left side or center of the body, the harmonious Vibrational energies of the Vibhuti are picked up by the body's electrical system, stabilizing, balancing and energizing the human energy field so that the body has a chance to take care of itself naturally improving the mental and physical being.
Vibhuti is taken between your thumb and your ring finger – you don’t have to pick up a lot of it, just a little bit – and applied between the eyebrows, known as the agna chakra, at the pit of the throat known as the vishuddhi chakra, and in the center of the chest where the rib-cage meets, known as the anahata chakra. It used to be common knowledge in India that you must apply it at these points. The reason why these particular points have been specified is because sacred ash makes them more sensitive.
This is a very deep science, but today, without understanding the science behind it, we simply apply it like a stripe on the forehead to show off that we have a great in god. Apply during headache and after head bath you'll sure notice a great impact.

why the bells are rung in temples?

Ringing the bell and making other sounds with the help of conch shell or other musical instrument is a significant practice in Hinduism. Every sound made during the puja or while worshiping the deities, has a scientific reason behind it. For example the temple bell, when rung produces the sound "Om". Om is the regarded as the beginning of all sounds which are present in the Universe. It is also the sound of the Supreme God.
Temple bells are not made of ordinary metal. It is made up of a mix of various metals like cadmium, zinc, lead, copper, nickel, chromium and manganese. The proportion in which each metal is mixed to create a temple bell is the science behind it. Each of these metals is mixed in such a way that when the bell is rung, each metal produces a distinct sound that creates unity of your left and right brain.
Therefore the moment you ring the bell, it produces a sharp and long lasting sound which lasts for about seven seconds. The echo of the sound from the bell touches your seven healing centers or chakras of the body. So, the moment the bell is rung, your brain goes blank for a few seconds and you enter a stage of trance. In this state of trance, your brain becomes extremely receptive and aware.
Thus, when you enter the temple after ringing the bell, you become aware of your spiritual self.
So when your parents say to ring the bells, don't feel shy or shame of it. Just ring it with this intention.

Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam, is a classical Indian dance form that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu. It is known for its grace, purity, tenderness, and sculpturesque poses. Bharata Natyam is considered to be a fire-dance — the mystic manifestation of the metaphysical element of fire in the human body.
The three primary elements of Bharatanatyam are Nritya Nritta, and Natya. Nritya emphasizes body movements and various dance postures. Nritta highlights rhythm and body movements. Natya gives significance to poem and drama. A perfect combination of all three elements makes a perfect dance.
